Stewardship Volunteer NetworkThe Money Revolution is about change and change happens through big
ideas and committed people. The big idea is Christian stewardship. Money
is a spiritual issue, a matter of joy, freedom, generosity and
discipleship. The Stewardship Volunteer Network is made up of some of
those committed people - around 220 church based volunteers. Their twin
passions are Paul puts his finger on the pulse when he writes about "the grace of giving" (2 Cor 8:7). But giving does not happen in a vacuum. Teaching is needed and like everyone else, church members struggle with money. It is not always easy to create and manage a budget, to save and plan for the future, to cope with debt and credit. But these things affect both our desire and our capacity to be generous people. The Stewardship Volunteer Network was formed through a partnership between Stewardship, a Christian charitable company promoting generous giving and Credit Action, a money education charity started by Keith Tondeur. Both organisations saw the need for better, biblical thinking about money. People need to find freedom from the pain of debt or money anxiety and to grow as generous givers. Volunteers choose from a range of roles. Some fly the flag for holistic money education and giving in the local church. Others train as Personal Budget Coaches offering practical and pastoral support in church and community. Some are local speakers, others are specialist debt advisers while promoting good money management, signposting to sources of debt advice and advocating generous giving is a key role for all volunteers.
