TAKE ACTION ON GIVING

The fifth principle of the Money Revolution is to give generously. This involves not just giving of our money as income, but giving of our time, being generous in hospitality, generous in how we share our assets after our death, and in our response to the needs and concerns of others.

Proportionate Giving

Check out your giving as a proportion of your income using our simple Excel calculator. If you don't have Excel, you can access a pdf of the calculator here. If you feel that you want to increase your level of giving, why not set yourself a target, and gradually work towards it, taking a step each year.

Discover the Joy of Giving

God loves a cheerful giver! So writes Paul to the Corinthians (2 Cor 9:7). But all too often giving doesn't give us the joy that it should. Here are three tips to discover the joy of giving.....
Find out more about the church or charity you are supporting. The more that you know about their work, the more you will discover how your gift is being used to fulfil God's wider mission in the world.
Commit to pray regularly for the organisation. Find out if they produce prayer notes, and use them to inform your prayers.
Every time the offertory is taken up in church, visualise your giving on the plate (even if it goes direct from your bank account by Standing Order.) See all of your giving there, not just your gift to that church. After all, it is all going to resource some part of God's work, to meet some kind of need.

Sovereign Accounts
Find out more about Sovereign Accounts from Stewardship. These enable you to manage all your giving with one account. It's simple, effective and flexible, and Gift Aid is reclaimed on your behalf before sending your gift on to your chosen church or charity.

Generous Hospitality
Hospitality is very much a form of giving. The Greek word for hospitality means 'love of strangers', and true hospitality is a long way from social entertaining.

Henrietta Mears once said "Hospitality should have no other nature than love."
