Andrew's story
How did you hear about Sovereign charitable accounts? The pastor at our church taught regularly about giving so it has always been important to me. But the real kick start was when the church started a special building appeal. The man in charge of the appeal told me about Sovereign accounts, I got one and I have used it ever since So what does your Sovereign do that other ways of giving don't do?Giving this way is very simple because I pool all my giving into one place and then make my gifts from there. I prefer this to having lots of small gifts going from my bank account each month. The other thing I like is being able to use the Sovereign vouchers to make one off gifts. Standing orders seem to just run on their own once they are set up. This way I can give regularly and if a need comes through the post or on the TV I can respond quickly from the money already in my Sovereign account. How do you manage your Sovereign account?Stewardship collect a set amount every month from my bank account and they make my gift to my church and my other regular gifts. The charities I give to has changed over time and so has the amount that I give. It's very flexible and easy to change my giving. I just tell Stewardship; no need for new standing orders or direct debits. The Gift Aid rebate I keep in my Sovereign account So what happens to the gift aid?Mainly I give this to third world charities. We are a rich nation and relative to other people I have a lot. It's important to me to share and show compassion I pray about where to send this money when there are emergency appeals ad other short term needs. The vouchers make this easy.. Is the administration cost of the account a problem for you?'No; the 3% is not an issue. I have received first class service from Stewardship every year and I trust them as an organisation. Also I'm not just paying for a service. Stewardship is a charity and I am supporting a much wider ministry to the Church. They do a lot and I am happy to support them.
